Marco Simoncelli continued positive note in the German MotoGP free practice session. In Free Practice II, he beat Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa. In the second practice session at the Sachsenring circuit on Friday (07/15/2011), there was fierce competition between Simoncelli and Lorenzo. At the beginning of the session, Lorenzo was leading after the record time of 1 minute 22.804 seconds. However, Simoncelli beat Lorenzo with a record time of 1 minute 22.625 seconds.
